Cheese Rolls Baby!

Okay, so I guess everyone knows about the cheese roll competition, but if not, it’s all about the hunt for the perfect southern cheese roll.  And when the ‘best’ is discovered, then a team of science-y folk at the University of Otago will try to figure out just what makes this ultimate roll of cheese-y goodness tick.

And, though I shouldn’t be so surprised, cheese rolls have a Wikipedia entry…

Personally, I’ve always liked the cheese rolls at the Moeraki Boulder’s Cafe, they’re totally huge and I so had to have two the last time!  Nothing like a beautiful sunny day, a refreshing beverage and a yummy cheese roll overlooking what is perhaps New Zealand’s best-known geological feature. (Which aren’t, by the way, mystical, extra-terrestrial or from some ancient Chinese battleship.  The boulders are being eroded by the waves out of the mudstone cliff on the beach)

And this seagull was totally jealous of my cheese roll and I didn’t share…
